Antique Japan sculpture Buddha 1501 Edo era craft Namusyakamunibutsu

Antique Japanese Buddhist shrine temple sculpture: Namusyakamunibutsu (南無釈迦牟尼佛) Buddha, complete of Zushi case (early 1900), good conditions despite long and extensive usage, wear from usage and time. Sculptured wood with Urushi black lacquer and gold leaf technique, painted textile pattern partly visible. Glass eyes with lighter iris visible from close up, on forehead and front 2 Roca (?) stone gems. 
Back inscription: carved in the year 庚申年四月 (Eye-opening of the statue) by Kaiganshi Nichiyo 開眼師 - Mikawa Ajari priest 日要 三河阿闍梨.

Very nice patina, in original conditions as found, dust sediments, from rural Buddhist temple central Japan. Historical sculpture, additional detailed photos available on request.

Period: dated on back 1500 - 1501 Kanoesaru Muromachi era (庚申年四月), (Zushi case from early 1900)

Dimensions: total H 19 cm, total weight 1.110 Kg + wrapping
